Your role as a Staff Member

Never been a staff member before, or just need a quick refresher? Here you’ll find practical information about your role as a staff member.

Your role as a Staff Member

As a staff member, you will be assigned a role within one of the following functions: Food, Infrastructure, Programme, Service & Communication, or Spontaneous. The goal is for all staff members to be placed and informed about which camp function they belong to before arriving at the camp. Each function is further divided into work groups. If you are expected to have any information or prior knowledge before the camp, your function will contact you about this. Communication will be sent to the email address you provided in your registration.

A day at the Camp

The assignment as a staff member in many ways resembles a regular full‑time job. You will have a team leader who introduces you to your tasks and informs you of the times you are expected to be on duty.

On special occasions, you may be asked to help with tasks outside your regular duties, for example in connection with the arrival of participants or the opening ceremony.

Those affected will receive information from their team leader on site.

Communication during the Camp

The main channel for communication between staff members during the camp is Microsoft Teams. You will be assigned a Teams account and receive information about how this works before you arrive at the camp.

To be able to work in Teams, you need to bring a smartphone. Phones can be charged in the staff dining hall and possibly at your workplace. A good tip is to bring a power bank and a solar charger if you have one.
