Food at camp

Food

Eating well is important – especially at camp, where you need plenty of energy to take part in everything that’s happening. Here, your troop can find information about meal distribution and what to pack to make food handling in your village as smooth as possible.

The philosophy of food

At Jamboree26, the food will be based on set recipes, while giving troops the opportunity to create their own variations of each dish. Camp participants will be involved in cooking with ingredients that are sustainable and that promote joy in food, health, and social connection. With that idea as a foundation, the menu offers variety, with both meat and vegetarian options.

Jamboree26 aims to introduce scouts to ingredients and meals that may be entirely or partly new to some. This could mean swapping white rice for Swedish-grown barley, or offering whole‑grain bread as an option at certain breakfasts. In this way, the hope is that Jamboree26 will inspire positive eating habits by opening minds to a more sustainable food system.

Food Distribution

At the start of the week each village will receive a start kit with basic items. When something runs out more can be picked up at the food distribution. Each village has a timeslot when it is possible to collect certain food items over the counter which has a limited supply. To avoid long queues, it is recommended to collect all food items during this timeslot. A menu with recipes will indicate which additional ingredients to pick up.

Each village will have an assigned area in one of our refrigerated containers to store food that needs to be kept cold. All other foods must be stored in your village. Only food supplied by the camp is allowed to be stored in the refrigerated containers

Refrigerated containers

At several locations around the camp, refrigerated containers will be available. Each village will be assigned a designated storage area inside these containers for food provided by the camp.

Equipment list for food

  • Wagon for transport between the food distribution and your village
  • Boxes/crates for carrying items
  • Containers for loose items; fruits, vegetables, etc.

Dietary Requirement

The food distribution will include a special diet section where groups can collect the food items needed to accommodate this – this will only be available for those who registered for it.

If an allergy or dietary requirement was registered within your group, the food team may contact you if further coordination is needed.
